The significance of self-awareness with compliance in implementing health protocols in new normal period in adolescents
Abstract
Objectives: The world, including Indonesia, has been intensified by the emergence of a new virus, Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19). The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted all levels of society, including teenagers. Some children and adolescents are more at risk of complications related to the transmission of Covid-19, 70% of cases of children and adolescents end in death. Efforts to implement the health protocols (washing hands, wearing a mask, keeping a distance, staying away from the crowd, reducing mobility, and compliance by fostering self-awareness are significant to prevent transmission and reduce the risk of death from Covid-19. Method: This study was quantitative research with a cross-cutting approach. The sample size has 72 respondents from SMA Negeri Banguntapan using a simple random sampling technique and bivariate analysis using Kendall tau. Results: It is seen that self-awareness is shown and most of the respondents were categorized as moderate, namely (56.9%) and compliance with implementing washing hands, wearing a mask, keeping their distance, staying away from the crowd, and reducing mobility, some respondents were quite obedient, namely (61.1%). The results of the Kendall tau test were 0.000 (p<0.05). The relationship between the variables is known to have a correlation coefficient of 0.683, which means that the proximity of the relationship is positive when self-awareness is in the moderate category, compliance with health protocol, and is quite obedient.
